12V and 24V LED Cabinet Lighting Installs

Materials Needed

  1. Choose your 12V or 24V LED lights: INDOOR LED LIGHTING
  2. Power supply (transformer) compatible with the total wattage of the lights:
  3. Wiring and connectors
  4. Double-sided adhesive or mounting brackets
  5. Electrical tape or wire nuts
  6. Wire strippers
  7. Screwdriver
  8. Measuring tape
  9. Drill (if necessary)

Installation Steps

  • Plan the Layout
    • Measure the area where you want to install the LED lights to ensure you have enough materials.
    • Decide on the placement of the lights, power supply, and wiring path.

Prepare the Area

Clean the surface where the lights will be mounted to ensure they adhere properly if using adhesive.

Install the Power Supply

  1. Find a suitable location for the power supply close to a power outlet.
  2. Ensure the power supply is compatible with the total wattage of the lights.
  3. Secure the power supply using screws or adhesive.

Connect the Wiring

  1. Use wire strippers to strip the ends of the wires.
  2. Connect wires from the LED lights to the power supply using connectors or electrical tape.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent shorts.

Mount the LED Lights

  1. Attach the LED lights to the cabinet using double-sided adhesive or mounting brackets.
  2. If using brackets, ensure they are securely screwed into place.

Test the Lights

  1. Plug in the power supply and turn on the lights to ensure they work properly.
  2. Make any necessary adjustments to the positioning or connections.

Secure the Wires

  1. Use electrical tape or wire nuts to secure any loose wires.
  2. Tidy up the wiring by securing it along the cabinet edges using clips or adhesive.
  • Make sure the lights are evenly spaced and the wires are neatly organized.
  • Test the lights again to ensure everything is working as expected.

  • Ensure power is turned off while making electrical connections.

The diagram above shows the installation options available for wiring LEDs into cabinets. To provide dimming options, the dimming switch is wired between the 120V power lead and the dimmable driver (power supply).
